The World Trade Organisation is the successor to the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade, founded as a result of UN deliberations. Tasked with regulating international trade and deliberating disputes, the organisation has expansive influence over the trade policies of its 164 member states. The WTO strives to reduce global barriers to trade and combat protectionism.
