Chairing applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis as and when they are received. Once all positions are filled the chair recruitment process will be terminated, so please apply at your earliest convenience.
The oldest conference in Europe, CUIMUN is one of the most highly respected conferences in the world, consistently maintaining high quality debate, thought provoking discussion, masterful diplomacy and dynamic committee formats. As a chair you will be central to upholding these high standards for our international audience of delegates. We welcome applications for chairing from individuals with all levels of experience who are capable and passionate about making MUN and CUIMUN an engaging experience for delegates. Prior chairing experience is not necessarily required, but we look favourably on candidates with extensive MUN experience as both chairs and delegates.
Chairs are exempt from the standard delegate fee, paying only £44 for access to all of our conference socials, and exclusive chairing social events.
The chair is responsible for the procedural functions and smooth running of the committee. A chair will need a thorough working knowledge of the procedural rules of CUIMUN, and the confidence to lead debate in accordance with these rules. They will also need to be able to support and encourage delegates either new to MUN or to the format of their committee. Chairs will be required to submit a study guide as part of their committee preparation.
The best chair - or chairs - at both CUIMUN and OxIMUN are eligible for an award from both conferences that recognises their skill, conscientiousness and commitment to the aims of Model United Nations. Award recipients receive guaranteed chair positions, exempt from chairing fees, at both conferences for the following year.
We were delighted to award the 2019 Oxbridge Chairing Award to Jannis Giavridis (Director, ECOFIN) and Joe Mensah (Director, UNEP)!
